In his foreword in the plan, Chief Executive of Galway City Council, Brendan McGrath says, \u201cThere are major challenges and opportunities ahead for the city. These challenges will be addressed and the opportunities maximised through genuine public consultation and multi-agency collaborations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The plan places a focus on developing more innovative approaches that deliver more creative uses of public spaces and will develop a managed Vacant Spaces Scheme in conjunction with the Historic Assets Register and Local Authority lists.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">With the city and county\u2019s success in winning the European Capital of Culture 2020 along with the UNESCO City of Film designation, European Region of Gastronomy 2018, the Urbanism Great Town award, the Purple Flag award, the FDI Micro-City of the Year award and the European Green Leaf Award 2017 as Europe\u2019s most environmentally sustainable small city, \u201cIt is an exciting time for Galway,\u201d added Mr McGrath.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.galwayindependent.com\/news\/topics\/articles\/2016\/08\/10\/4124621-new-cultural-strategy-looks-to-the-future\/\">Read original article at galwayindependent.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Titled \u2018Everybody Matters\u2019, this is the first time that a Cultural Sustainability Strategy Framework has been devised for Galway and it spans from 2016 to 2025.
