The third edition of the European Young Chef Award<\/a> will be hosted by the Galway International Hotel School,\u00a0GMIT\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0on 25 – 26 November 2017.<\/div>\n

Galway, West of Ireland is European Region of Gastronomy Awarded 2018<\/a> and the region belonging to the European Young Chef 2017 edition winner, Aisling Rock<\/a>.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The competition will see finalists coming from awarded and candidate European Regions of Gastronomy<\/a> competing inside the kitchens of GMIT for the coveted title by innovating on a traditional recipe<\/strong>\u00a0using raw material coming from their native regions. The innovative recipes will be presented in front of a Jury panel of experts in different fields.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Award aims to enhance local products as the vital DNA<\/strong> characterizing each region while contributing to raising awareness of healthy eating and sustainable food systems. It considers tradition as the basis on which it is possible to innovate to keep regional identities alive<\/strong>.\u00a0Furthermore, there is an emphasis on promoting food as a powerful tool able to re-connect rural and urban environments and find smart solutions in regard to regional development through food production and sustainable hospitality industries.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Finally, it will be a valuable opportunity for young chefs to enhance their career inside a vibrant framework. They will have the occasion to share experiences and knowledge and learning from each other\u2019s regional cooking traditions and the Award will give them the chance to sign a protocol to be IGCAT Regional Chef Ambassadors<\/a>.<\/p>\n
