Expectations are growing in the European Regions of Gastronomy, where local competitions are being held to select the finalists who will compete in the European Young Chef Award 2018<\/a>, to be held in Galway-West of Ireland, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2018<\/a> on 25-26 November.<\/p>\n

Young talents from the different regions will engage in an international contest aimed to highlight local sustainable gastronomic cultures and products, paying special attention to the narration of the stories that lie behind their dishes, and create young ambassadors for European regions.<\/p>\n

Recipes presented will be the result of interesting combinations of tradition and innovation that will need to convince an international jury with cross-sectoral expertise including gastronomy, culture, arts and tourism.<\/p>\n

South Aegean, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2019<\/a> will announce its finalist on 22 September, when the local competition will be held on the island of Syros.<\/p>\n

About the European Region of Gastronomy<\/strong><\/p>\n

Candidate and awarded Regions of Gastronomy<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0from Europe, guided by\u00a0IGCAT<\/a><\/strong>, are working together to raise awareness about the importance of their cultural and food uniqueness and share the long-term aim to: promote a better quality of life in European regions; highlight distinctive food cultures; educate for better health and sustainability; nurture creativity; improve tourism standards; and stimulate gastronomic innovation.<\/p>\n

About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n

IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0is a non-profit institute established in 2012, working with regional stakeholder consortiums in the fields of gastronomy, culture, arts and tourism. It counts on the expertise of a worldwide\u00a0network of experts<\/a>\u00a0and works in partnership with specialised intergovernmental organisations.<\/p>\n

IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0aims to\u00a0empower local communities<\/strong>\u00a0by guiding, facilitating, and supporting leaders in regions to understand the potential of their distinct food, culture, arts and sustainable tourism assets.<\/p>\n

IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0provides the\u00a0Region of Gastronomy Award<\/a>\u00a0and is the official secretariat for the\u00a0European Region of Gastronomy Platform<\/a>.
