V\u00e6rdal<\/strong> and CEO of <strong>Trondheim Municipality<\/strong>, <strong>Morten Wolden<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very proud\u201d affirmed Morten Wolden, \u201cin order to get the European Region of Gastronomy 2022 title we have set very ambitious targets for our region. Food and food production are the areas where we have the greatest potential of gathering urban and rural activities and, through this award, we should build on the excellent work we have been doing in this field for the last 15-20 years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After delivering their <a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Trondelag_bidbook-2022.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bid book<\/a> on 15 September 2019 and a <a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/trondheim-trondelag-presents-bid-to-be-european-region-of-gastronomy-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">public bid presentation<\/a> in Brussels on 9 October 2019, Trondheim-Tr\u00f8ndelag welcomed an <a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/trondheim-trondelag-builds-on-gastronomy-and-sustainability\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">international jury<\/a> of experts on 12-14 November 2019 who recommended the region for the award.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been quite a journey\u201d stated Kirsten I. V\u00e6rdal, who added that \u201cour region is good at both small artisan products, as well as big scale production and we should capitalise on these strengths. With the European Region of Gastronomy title, we are now making an important new step.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both Wolden and V\u00e6rdal agreed that obtaining the European Region of Gastronomy 2022 title is just the beginning of a bigger challenge to involve the broadest possible range of stakeholders, as the whole region must be part of this project. Furthermore, they thanked leading stakeholders <strong>Visit Trondheim<\/strong> and the food-organisation <strong>Oi! Tr\u00f8ndersk mat og Drikke<\/strong> for their efforts in initiating and managing the region\u2019s successful bid for the award.<\/p>\n<p>The European Region of Gastronomy 2022 title was presented to Trondheim-Tr\u00f8ndelag in the framework of <strong>Tr\u00f8ndelagsm\u00f8tet<\/strong>, an annual event gathering a variety of stakeholders including local, regional and national politicians, business players, public enterprises and other relevant stakeholders in Tr\u00f8ndelag region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the European Region of Gastronomy\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanregionofgastronomy.org\/platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Candidate and awarded Regions of Gastronomy<\/a>\u00a0from Europe, guided by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IGCAT<\/a>, are working together to raise awareness about the importance of their cultural and food uniqueness; stimulate creativity and gastronomic innovation; educate for better nutrition; improve sustainable tourism standards; highlight distinctive food cultures; and strengthen community well-being.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0aims to<strong>\u00a0empower local communities<\/strong>\u00a0by raising awareness of the importance to safeguard and promote distinct food, culture, arts and sustainable tourism assets.
