{"id":20424,"date":"2020-03-16T10:51:53","date_gmt":"2020-03-16T09:51:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/?p=20424"},"modified":"2020-03-16T10:57:21","modified_gmt":"2020-03-16T09:57:21","slug":"igcat-launches-the-1st-international-food-gift-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/es\/igcat-launches-the-1st-international-food-gift-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"IGCAT launches the 1st International Food Gift Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With the aim to identify and promote artisanal food and food-related gifts in the Regions of Gastronomy, IGCAT launched the <strong>1<sup>st<\/sup> International Food Gift Challenge<\/strong> to take place in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanregionofgastronomy.org\/platform\/kuopio-2020\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kuopio, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2020<\/a>, on 5 June 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by <strong>Savonia University of Applied Sciences<\/strong>, the competition will gather <strong>high-quality food and crafts products<\/strong> that are locally produced and representative of the different regional gastronomies. These will be evaluated by an international jury of experts from <strong>IGCAT<\/strong> and the <strong>Regions of Gastronomy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>With a view to support and give international visibility to local producers who manufacture unique items related to the regions\u2019 culinary traditions, a total of 10 products will be awarded as \u201c<strong>Selected Food Gift 2020<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Products will be assessed not only for their quality and attractiveness, but also for their <strong>sustainability<\/strong>, their <strong>connection to the territory<\/strong> they come from and their ability to tell <strong>engaging stories<\/strong> about themselves and their producers, in order to stimulate local and international visitors\u2019 curiosity. <strong>Creativity<\/strong> and <strong>innovation<\/strong> in the manufacturing process and packaging will also be part of the evaluation.<\/p>\n<p>The ultimate aim of the <a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/projects\/local-food-gift-challenge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">International Food Gift Challenge<\/a> is to increase the availability of <strong>excellent, one-of-a-kind food products<\/strong> in the Regions of Gastronomy and promote them internationally. Thus, to allow local producers to capitalise on the ever-increasing demand from visitors for high-quality products, paired with their search for <strong>authenticity<\/strong> and <strong>uniqueness<\/strong>, and enhanced attention for sustainability.<\/p>\n<p>The International Food Gift Challenge reinforces IGCAT\u2019s mission to <strong>protect and promote local food and cultural diversity<\/strong> by instilling local pride into local traditions and acknowledging outstanding products from local culinary cultures.<\/p>\n<p>The competition will be organised in the framework of the <a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/events\/upcoming-events\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">7<sup>th<\/sup> Annual IGCAT Experts Meeting<\/a> and <strong>19<sup>th<\/sup> European Region of Gastronomy Platform Meeting<\/strong> that, together with a public seminar on <strong><em>Food, Well-being and Wellness Tourism<\/em><\/strong> will take place in Kuopio, on 3-6 June 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Winners of the International Food Gift Challenge 2020 will be announced at the official <strong>Opening Ceremony<\/strong> of <strong>Kuopio, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2020<\/strong> to be held on 6 June.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the European Region of Gastronomy\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanregionofgastronomy.org\/platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Candidate and awarded Regions of Gastronomy<\/a>\u00a0from Europe, guided by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IGCAT<\/a>, are working together to raise awareness about the importance of their cultural and food uniqueness; stimulate creativity and gastronomic innovation; educate for better nutrition; improve sustainable tourism standards; highlight distinctive food cultures; and strengthen community well-being.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0aims to<strong>\u00a0empower local communities<\/strong>\u00a0by raising awareness of the importance to safeguard and promote distinct food, culture, arts and sustainable tourism assets. This is essential to balance against globalised food trends that are impacting on our planet, health and local economies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0is a non-profit institute established in 2012, working with regional stakeholder consortiums in the fields of gastronomy, culture, arts and tourism.
