IGCAT has officially announced the 7th edition of the European Young Chef Award<\/strong> that will take place in Hauts-de-France, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2023<\/a>, on 20-23 November 2023 at the Lyc\u00e9e h\u00f4telier du Touquet<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Under the theme Innovation on Tradition, the European Young Chef Award will gather finalists of local contests held in the awarded and candidate European Regions of Gastronomy<\/a> who will compete by innovating traditional recipes from their regions using local ingredients.<\/p>\n

An international jury comprised of chefs from across Europe will evaluate the finalists according to their creativity<\/strong>, skills and ability to communicate the story<\/strong> of their dishes.<\/p>\n

Sustainability<\/strong> will also play a key role in the assessment of the young chefs, who will need to demonstrate their capacity to reduce food waste and single-use plastics in the kitchen, as well as ensure a balanced use of meat\/fish ingredients and vegetables in their dishes.<\/p>\n

Moreover, this year\u2019s competition will put an increased emphasis on the young chefs supporting and collaborating with young food producers<\/strong> in their regions, such as farmers, fishermen and beekeepers.<\/p>\n

By promoting innovations on traditional cuisine, highlighting sustainable food cultures and supporting local food products, the European Young Chef Award is a powerful tool to raise young chefs\u2019 awareness on the importance to preserve regional food and cultural diversity, as well as local plant and animal varieties throughout their professional career.<\/p>\n

The European Young Chef Award counts on the continuous support of its official ambassador, world-renowned chef Joan Roca, who has endorsed the competition\u2019s principles since its first edition in 2016: \u201cI congratulate this initiative that highlights the richness and diversity of European gastronomy, at the same time as valuing chefs for their role in ecology and sustainability.\u201d<\/p>\n
