By signing an agreement with IGCAT, they proudly commit to give visibility to their regions\u2019 food and cultural heritage throughout their future professional career.<\/p>\n<p>Through the European Young Chef Award, IGCAT seeks to nurture the most promising talent from the European Regions of Gastronomy, young cooks who can be influencers for the future and, help the coming generations understand the importance of protecting and promoting local food and culture for the benefit of their health, the environment and circular economies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter seven successful editions of the European Young Chef Award, we are proud to have now 63 IGCAT Regional Chef Ambassadors! They represent our future, as they pledge to always try to promote local products and local producers, as well as educate people and build awareness of the importance of keeping local plants and animal varieties alive; resuscitate old recipes; and tell the stories that make their regions unique. They are true ambassadors for their regions!\u201d explained IGCAT President,\u00a0<strong>Diane Dodd Phd<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The latest round of\u00a0IGCAT\u2019s Regional Chef Ambassador\u00a0agreements were signed\u00a0on 21 November 2023\u00a0at the Lyc\u00e9e H\u00f4telier du Touquet, in the framework of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanyoungchefaward.org\/european-young-chef-award-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">7<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0European Young Chef Award<\/a>. Following the signing, each young chef finalist prepared a traditional recipe from their region as a warm-up for the competition whereby they presented an innovative interpretation of these dishes to an international jury of experts (22 November).<\/p>\n<p><strong>About IGCAT\u2019s European Young Chef Award<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The European Young Chef Award is an annual competition organised by IGCAT that gathers young culinary talents from the awarded and candidate European Regions of Gastronomy. Selected each year through local contests, finalists to the European Young Chef Award compete by innovating traditional recipes from their regions using local ingredients.<\/p>\n<p>IGCAT counts on the continuous support of the official ambassador of the competition, world-renowned, Michelin-starred chef\u00a0<strong>Joan Roca<\/strong>, who has endorsed its principles since the first edition in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a07<sup>th<\/sup> European Young Chef Award\u00a0was organised and promoted by the\u00a0<strong>International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Art and Tourism<\/strong>\u00a0(<strong>IGCAT<\/strong>), and hosted by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanregionofgastronomy.org\/platform\/hauts-de-france-2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hauts-de-France, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The competition was held with the support of the Hauts-de-France, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2023 consortium including:\u00a0<strong>R\u00e9gion Hauts-de-France<\/strong>;\u00a0<strong>Chambre R\u00e9gionale d\u2019Agriculture Hauts-de-France<\/strong>;\u00a0<strong>Chambre de Commerce et de l\u2019Industrie Hauts-de-France<\/strong>;\u00a0<strong>Chambre R\u00e9gionale de M\u00e9tiers et de l\u2019Artisanat Hauts-de-France<\/strong>;\u00a0<strong>POT Hauts-de-France<\/strong>;\u00a0<strong>Union des M\u00e9tiers et des Industrie de l\u2019H\u00f4tellerie<\/strong>\u00a0(<strong>UMIH<\/strong>);\u00a0<strong>UniLaSalle<\/strong>;\u00a0<strong>Programme Investissement Avenir, Caisse des d\u00e9p\u00f4ts<\/strong>;\u00a0<strong>GIP Forinval Amiens<\/strong>;\u00a0<strong>Campus des M\u00e9tiers et des Qualifications d\u2019Excellence, Tourisme et Innovation<\/strong>; and\u00a0<strong>R\u00e9gion Acad\u00e9mique Hauts de France<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the World\/European Regions of Gastronomy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/world-regions-of-gastronomy-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">World\/European Regions of Gastronomy<\/a>, guided by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IGCAT<\/a>, are working together to strengthen food security through the celebration of distinctive food cultures; create employment by stimulating creativity and gastronomic innovation; nourish children and adults through culinary and cultural education; driving environmental sustainability in tourism, hospitality and agricultural sectors; supporting balance and sustainable tourism practices; highlighting and supporting expertise from within rural and urban communities, creating connections and sharing good practices; and contributing to community health and well-being.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>IGCAT aims to\u00a0<strong>empower local communities<\/strong>\u00a0by raising awareness of the importance of protecting and promoting distinct regional food, culture, arts and natural assets as part of sustainable and balanced tourism and development strategies.
