The European Region of Gastronomy title will be awarded to a different region each year as a stimulus to link food, hospitality, tourism, culture, health and sustainability to support economic, cultural, social and environmental development.<\/p>\n<p>A consortium of European regions is being formed that will stage the European Region of Gastronomy starting in 2016. In the next few years a system will be established for awarding the title on a long-term basis, with an open competition for regions wishing to host the event.
