The meetings took place in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefoodproject.dk\/\">FOOD Office<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aarhus.dk\/\">City Hall of Aarhus<\/a>\u00a0and \u00a0brought together 31 colleagues and new members representing 10 European regions and IGCAT, the coordinating body. The Platform welcomed the \u00a0South Aegean Region, Greece, as a new partner of the Platform which is responsible for 50% of all Greek tourism. The Governor of the region signed a collaboration agreement with the President of IGCAT and spoke of the hope to rebuild pride and confidence in local communities by promoting high quality cuisine found on islands throughout the region.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, the partners heard about the progress in the process in each region, in particular the report from Catalonia as host of European Region of Gastronomy 2016 by Blanca Cross. The lessons learnt from the year so far were told to the partners which included positive participation from some 600 stakeholders who are now taking part.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also discussed the monitoring and evaluation of the Award process following a jury visit to Galway. The communication and marketing strategy discussion had the added benefit of a workshop led by Henrick Zacho \u00a0and a talk by the head of communications for Aarhus European Capital of Culture 2017. Further to this, the partners spoke about different matters related to new proposals such as the Sustainable Food Products Award, the ERG Shop Hosting and other funding proposals. During the meeting, the regions were reminded that finalists will part in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/\">European Young Chef Award<\/a>\u00a0which will be celebrated on 14 November 2016 at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/santpol.edu.es\/ca\/\">EUHTStPOl<\/a>\u00a0in the framework of\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.catalunya.com\/somgastronomia\">Catalonia, European region of Gastronomy 2016<\/a>\u00a0and partners will participate in the F\u00f2rum Gastr\u00f2nomic.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>Hosted in the framework of<b> <span class=\"il\">Aarhus<\/span>&#8211; Central Denmark Region 2017 &#8211; Rethinking Good Food<\/b>. The Danish region successfully bid for, and was officially awarded the title, <b>European Region of Gastronomy 2017 <\/b>alongside Riga-Gauja Region and East Lombardy,\u00a0\u00a0at a ceremony in Expo Milan in October 2015. The region is developing a programme of events for 2017 with a special emphasis on creative clusters for businesses that aim to celebrate the region&#8217;s produce and traditions while exploring sustainable food production.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The <b>European Region of Gastronomy Platform and Award<\/b> aim to contribute to better quality of life in European regions, by highlighting distinctive food cultures, educating for better health and sustainability and stimulating culinary innovation.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><b>IGCAT &#8211; International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism<\/b> &#8211; organises the award with the support of European institutions.
