{"id":16239,"date":"2017-12-08T20:01:01","date_gmt":"2017-12-08T19:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/?p=16239"},"modified":"2017-12-08T20:03:25","modified_gmt":"2017-12-08T19:03:25","slug":"latvian-senses-project-riga-gauja-european-region-gastronomy-2017-awarded-bea-world-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/fr\/latvian-senses-project-riga-gauja-european-region-gastronomy-2017-awarded-bea-world-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Latvian Senses project from Riga-Gauja, European Region of Gastronomy 2017 awarded at BEA World Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In its title year, <strong>Riga-Gauja, European Region of Gastronomy 2017<\/strong> received a prestigious recognition for one of its flagship events, the gastronomic performance <em>Latvian Senses<\/em>,\u00a0awarded second best cultural event in 2017 at international <a href=\"http:\/\/www.beaworldfestival.com\/\">BEA World Festival<\/a> in Portugal last November.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Designed around the concept <em>Wild at Palate<\/em>, which forms the backbone of Riga-Gauja\u2019s programme as European Region of Gastronomy, the event toured Finland, Estonia and Lithuania to promote and establish the region as a gastronomy tourism destination in front of the three countries\u2019 local media, tourism sector representatives and opinion leaders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At BEA World Festival, Latvian Senses project impressed an international jury of 28 experts, which evaluated more than 300 events from 28 countries in 20 different categories, and managed to outplay competing cultural events from France, Germany and Russia. The centenary event of the Plaza Mayor in Madrid, Spain was awarded best project in the category.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Live Riga board chairwoman, <strong>Vita Jermolovi\u010da<\/strong> affirmed that BEA World Festival gathers each year the best events and event organisers and that can be compared to the Oscar award in the film industry. She added that \u201cLatvia in a contest where the majority of participants have budget of millions of euros per event has managed to appeal to the jury with a story and emotions provided by Latvian nature and its tastes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the same note, author of the Latvian Senses project concept, <strong>Gundega Skudri\u0146a<\/strong> highlighted that \u201cfor the first time in the events industry, the name of Latvia is heard far in the world. A huge job has been done together with the team and we are proud that we have managed to present such a wonderful gift for Latvia\u2019s anniversary that includes all the treasures that our dear home holds, as well as creativity, innovations and work of enterprising people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Latvian Senses event was organised by <strong>Riga Tourism Development Bureau<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.liveriga.com\/en\/\">Live Riga<\/a>), the c<strong>ounty council of Sigulda<\/strong> and the <strong>city councils of Cesis<\/strong> and <strong>Valmiera<\/strong>, in cooperation with the <strong>Tourism Department of the Latvian Investments and Development Agency<\/strong>.
