{"id":17058,"date":"2018-10-10T11:17:18","date_gmt":"2018-10-10T09:17:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/?p=17058"},"modified":"2018-10-10T11:18:15","modified_gmt":"2018-10-10T09:18:15","slug":"coimbra-region-announced-european-region-of-gastronomy-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/fr\/coimbra-region-announced-european-region-of-gastronomy-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Coimbra Region announced European Region of Gastronomy 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The European Regions of Gastronomy gathered once again in Brussels in the framework of the <strong>European Week of Regions and Cities<\/strong> to celebrate a new member of the Platform: <strong>Coimbra Region, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2021<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ceremony took place on 8 October 2018 at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Slovenia to the EU, where Coimbra was officially welcomed to the Platform together with Slovenia, also awarded for 2021.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Based on their bid book <a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Coimbra-Region_Bid-Book.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>A Million Food Stories<\/em><\/a> and a <a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/a-million-food-stories-provide-a-legacy-for-coimbra-region\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">jury visit<\/a> during which a panel of IGCAT Experts chaired by <strong>Dr. Edith Szivas<\/strong> assessed the readiness of the region to hold the award, the title was officially given to Coimbra Region in the presence of Secretary of State for Spatial Planning and the Conservation of Nature (Portuguese Ministry of Environment), <strong>Dr. C\u00e9lia Ramos<\/strong> and President of the Intermunicipal\u00a0Community of Coimbra Region, <strong>Jo\u00e3o Neves<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Coordinator of Coimbra, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2021, <strong>Sandra Sim\u00f5es<\/strong> presented the region\u2019s programme for the title year, focused on safeguarding and promoting cultural and food diversity, boosting sustainability and health through local food, supporting SMEs, enhancing the role of gastronomy in education and fostering innovation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ceremony concluded with a tasting of local dishes from Coimbra Region and Slovenia highlighting the rich variety of landscapes and food products that both regions offer, and giving a taste of Coimbra Region\u2019s desire to reinvent their gastronomy by innovating through local traditional flavours.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>About the European Region of Gastronomy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanregionofgastronomy.org\/platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Candidate and awarded Regions of Gastronomy<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0from Europe, guided by\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IGCAT<\/a><\/strong>, are working together to raise awareness about the importance of their cultural and food uniqueness and share the long-term aim to: promote a better quality of life in European regions; highlight distinctive food cultures; educate for better health and sustainability; nurture creativity; improve tourism standards; and stimulate gastronomic innovation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0is a non-profit institute established in 2012, working with regional stakeholder consortiums in the fields of gastronomy, culture, arts and tourism.
