{"id":17062,"date":"2018-10-10T14:49:13","date_gmt":"2018-10-10T12:49:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/?p=17062"},"modified":"2018-10-10T14:49:13","modified_gmt":"2018-10-10T12:49:13","slug":"slovenia-awarded-european-region-of-gastronomy-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/fr\/slovenia-awarded-european-region-of-gastronomy-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Slovenia awarded European Region of Gastronomy 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Slovenia, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2021<\/strong> officially joined the European Region of Gastronomy Platform on 8 October 2018, during an award ceremony organised at the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Slovenia to the EU in Brussels, during the <strong>European Week of Regions and Cities<\/strong>, in the presence of Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Brussels, <strong>Dr. Rado Genorio<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Award was received by State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food of the Republic of Slovenia, <strong>Tanja Strni<\/strong><strong>\u0161a<\/strong> and General Director of Tourism Division (Ministry of Economic Development and Technology of the Republic of Slovenia), <strong>Renata Martin\u010di\u010d<\/strong> who acknowledged the vital role of Slovenia\u2019s programme as European Region of Gastronomy to enhance local sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Slovenia was awarded the title following a <a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/green-and-gastronomy-slovenia-has-a-winning-combination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">jury visit<\/a> that took place on 18-20 July 2018 and during which the panel, chaired by President of IGCAT, <strong>Dr. Diane Dodd<\/strong> was especially impressed by the local gastronomic strengths and the region\u2019s commitment to sustainability.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The region\u2019s programme was presented in Brussels by European Region of Gastronomy Ambassador and author of the bid book <a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/Slovenia_Bid-Book.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Taste Slovenia<\/em><\/a>, <strong>Prof. Dr. Janez Bogataj<\/strong> who highlighted the main focus areas for the title year. Among them, the growth of sustainable gastronomic tourism and the quality improvement of the region\u2019s gastronomic offer; the protection of cultural and food diversity; a strengthened connection between urban and rural environments; a structured support to SMEs; and a prominent role of gastronomy in the fields of education and health.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Slovenia was awarded the European Region of Gastronomy 2021 title together with Coimbra Region (Portugal) and the Award Ceremony was followed by a tasting of local recipes from the two regions. The dishes offered demonstrated Slovenia\u2019s landscape variety, its richness in pure products coming from an unspoilt nature and the region\u2019s wealth of gastronomic traditions, reinterpreted to design creative and innovative food experiences.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>About the European Region of Gastronomy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanregionofgastronomy.org\/platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Candidate and awarded Regions of Gastronomy<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0from Europe, guided by\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IGCAT<\/a><\/strong>, are working together to raise awareness about the importance of their cultural and food uniqueness and share the long-term aim to: promote a better quality of life in European regions; highlight distinctive food cultures; educate for better health and sustainability; nurture creativity; improve tourism standards; and stimulate gastronomic innovation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0is a non-profit institute established in 2012, working with regional stakeholder consortiums in the fields of gastronomy, culture, arts and tourism. It counts on the expertise of a worldwide\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/experts\/global-experts-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">network of experts<\/a>\u00a0and works in partnership with specialised intergovernmental organisations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0aims to<strong>\u00a0empower local communities<\/strong>\u00a0by guiding, facilitating, and supporting leaders in regions to understand the potential of their distinct food, culture, arts and sustainable tourism assets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0provides the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/projects\/region-of-gastronomy-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Region of Gastronomy Award<\/a>\u00a0and is the official secretariat for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/projects\/region-of-gastronomy-award\/european-region-of-gastronomy-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Region of Gastronomy Platform<\/a>.
