The invitation came from the Graduate School of Arts Management and Cultural Policy, National Taiwan University of Arts. It was an opportunity for <strong>IGCAT&#8217;s President<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/team\/dr-diane-dodd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Diane Dodd<\/a> to\u00a0meet the <strong>Deputy Minister for Culture<\/strong> and to present the <strong>Regions of Gastronomy<\/strong> project.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">The Forum brought together intermediaries from the <strong>cultural sector<\/strong> in Taiwan including artists residencies, arts spaces, festival managers, research bodies, university departments and students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">In addition, international representatives joined the meeting from the Japan Foundation; the National Arts Council Singapore; Korea Culture and Tourism Institute and Mihidol University.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">A specific meeting took place inside the forum to ask if an Asian Network of Cultural Intermediaries (ANCI) is needed and if participants would like to sign-up to such an initiative. This came from a recognition of the growing prominence of cultural intermediaries in international cultural cooperation. Although the final mission is still to be established, the participants agreed the <strong>need to empower the arts and cultural sector across Asia<\/strong> by moving the conversation forward in areas of concern including:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sharing good practises<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">taxation for international cultural working<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">creative networking opportunities<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">funding for international exchange<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">\u00a0&#8230; and others&#8230;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">Questions of membership and organisation will still need to be discussed further but the network was looking for endorsement from all the international partners present. <a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/about\/our-board\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IGCAT&#8217;s Board<\/a> will now be consulted on their interest to endorse such a partnership.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400; text-align: justify;\">The initiative was received positively by those present as a &#8220;possibility to unlock the potential of cultural and expert exchange.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0is a non-profit institute established in 2012, working with regional stakeholder consortiums in the fields of gastronomy, culture, arts and tourism. It counts on the expertise of a worldwide\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/experts\/global-experts-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en-GB&amp;q=https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/experts\/global-experts-network\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1541676464127000&amp;usg=AFQjCNFgzSdHaWxZ5llEf5r-_jiwsjnkJg\"><strong>network of experts<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and works in partnership with specialised intergovernmental organisations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0aims to<strong>\u00a0empower local communities<\/strong>\u00a0by guiding, facilitating, and supporting leaders in regions to understand the potential of their distinct food, culture, arts and sustainable tourism assets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0provides the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/projects\/region-of-gastronomy-award\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en-GB&amp;q=https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/projects\/region-of-gastronomy-award\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1541676464127000&amp;usg=AFQjCNH3tmY2UonpvYUEVYCApJ-hffUxMA\"><strong>Region of Gastronomy Award<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and is the official secretariat for the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/projects\/region-of-gastronomy-award\/european-region-of-gastronomy-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?hl=en-GB&amp;q=https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/projects\/region-of-gastronomy-award\/european-region-of-gastronomy-platform\/&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1541676464127000&amp;usg=AFQjCNF_wAB2Ro2n7EU6G6HDmNvVq9Fi5w\"><strong>European Region of Gastronomy Platform<\/strong><\/a>.
