{"id":18896,"date":"2019-06-28T12:07:23","date_gmt":"2019-06-28T10:07:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/?p=18896"},"modified":"2019-07-09T12:08:05","modified_gmt":"2019-07-09T10:08:05","slug":"local-market-accepts-credit-cards-in-sibiu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/fr\/local-market-accepts-credit-cards-in-sibiu\/","title":{"rendered":"Local market accepts credit cards in Sibiu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanregionofgastronomy.org\/platform\/sibiu-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sibiu, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2019<\/a> is developing trendsetting initiatives meant to support local food producers and widen the access of citizens to local fresh products.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An excellent example is<strong> Cibin Market<\/strong> (Sibiu\u2019s local central market) being it the first in Romania to equip its stalls with POS to allow card payments, starting from 14 June 2019.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.ro\/drumul-catre-normalitate-piata-cibin-din-sibiu-este-prima-din-romania-care-introduce-plata-cu-cardul-la-tarabele-cu-fructe-si-legume-141233\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Forbes Romania<\/a> reports, this pilot project was developed by <strong>Mastercard<\/strong> and the <strong>Association of Market Administrators of Romania<\/strong> (AAPR), in partnership with <strong>Patria Bank<\/strong>, and benefits from the support of the <strong>Municipality of Sibiu<\/strong> and the consortium of <strong>Sibiu, European Region Gastronomy awarded 2019<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative was set up following a study commissioned by Mastercard demonstrating that nine out of ten adults living in the urban area use their card to shop on average twice a week. The main aim is thus to attract to the local market those people who prefer to pay with card but wish to pursue a <strong>healthier lifestyle<\/strong> based on the consumption of <strong>fresh local fruits and vegetables<\/strong> found in the local market.<\/p>\n<p>In the next future, it is hoped to implement the project it in many other cities across the country.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the European Region of Gastronomy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanregionofgastronomy.org\/platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Candidate and awarded Regions of Gastronomy<\/a>\u00a0from Europe, guided by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IGCAT<\/a>, are working together to raise awareness about the importance of their cultural and food uniqueness; stimulate creativity and gastronomic innovation; educate for better nutrition; improve sustainable tourism standards; highlight distinctive food cultures; and strengthen community well-being.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0aims to<strong>\u00a0empower local communities<\/strong>\u00a0by raising awareness of the importance to safeguard and promote distinct food, culture, arts and sustainable tourism assets.
