Both Michelin star chefs and Chef of the Year <strong>Rene\u00e9 Fagerhoi<\/strong> (who designed a Tasting for the audience) can be seen to be paving the way for the wider region to be recognised for its Nordic Flavours.<\/p>\n<p>Focus areas of Trondheim &#8211; Tr\u00f8ndelag\u2019s bid and the proposed programme for 2022 were described by <strong>Kristine Rise<\/strong>, Project Manager, Oi!\u00a0Tr\u00f8ndersk Mat og Drikke AS and <strong>Jens Storli<\/strong>, Congress and Convention Manager, Visit Trondheim who had coordinated the <a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Trondelag_bidbook-2022.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">bid book<\/a> process. The bid book identifies the culinary wealth of the region and highlights great initiatives like the Tr\u00f8ndelag Food Festival held annually in Trondheim.<\/p>\n<p>The jury comprising of\u00a0<strong>Jesper Henrik Borg Christensen<\/strong>, strategic advisor on gastronomy branding for Aarhus-Central Denmark Region &#8211; European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2017, <strong>Heidi Lazani<\/strong>, expert in food education, citizen engagement and advisor to the Governor of the South Aegean &#8211; European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2019 and <strong>Ilona Sares<\/strong>, expert in agrifood and services development for Proagria East Finland, stakeholder for Kuopio European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The bids took place within the framework of the European Week of Regions and Cities and completed a day of round table\u2019s on Greener and Healthier Futures chaired by IGCAT\u2019s President and Vice-President, <strong>Dr. Diane Dodd<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>Dr. Edith Szivas <\/strong>during which <strong>Kirsten I. V\u00e6rdal<\/strong>, Director, Planning and Development, Tr\u00f8ndelag County took part.<\/p>\n<p>The jury is now set to visit Trondheim- Tr\u00f8ndelag 12-15 November when they will have the chance to meet stakeholders and study in detail whether the region is ready to host the Award in 2022.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the European Region of Gastronomy\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanregionofgastronomy.org\/platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Candidate and awarded Regions of Gastronomy<\/a>\u00a0from Europe, guided by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IGCAT<\/a>, are working together to raise awareness about the importance of their cultural and food uniqueness; stimulate creativity and gastronomic innovation; educate for better nutrition; improve sustainable tourism standards; highlight distinctive food cultures; and strengthen community well-being.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0aims to<strong>\u00a0empower local communities<\/strong>\u00a0by raising awareness of the importance to safeguard and promote distinct food, culture, arts and sustainable tourism assets.
