{"id":19720,"date":"2019-11-16T09:35:29","date_gmt":"2019-11-16T08:35:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/?p=19720"},"modified":"2019-11-16T09:35:29","modified_gmt":"2019-11-16T08:35:29","slug":"trondheim-trondelag-builds-on-gastronomy-and-sustainability","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/fr\/trondheim-trondelag-builds-on-gastronomy-and-sustainability\/","title":{"rendered":"Trondheim-Tr\u00f8ndelag builds on gastronomy and sustainability"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Trondheim-Tr\u00f8ndelag<\/strong>\u00a0region (Norway) has been officially recommended for the\u00a0<strong>European Region of Gastronomy 2022<\/strong>\u00a0title by a jury comprised of international experts in different fields on 14 November 2019.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The announcement took place in front of representatives from local authorities, stakeholders and press during a press conference organised at <strong>Liantunet restaurant<\/strong> in Trondheim, following a three-day jury visit to the region, aimed at assessing the region\u2019s readiness to host the title.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chaired by Vice-President of IGCAT\u00a0and expert in sustainable tourism development,\u00a0<strong>Dr. Edith Szivas<\/strong>, the evaluation panel\u00a0included experts from IGCAT and awarded European Regions of Gastronomy:\u00a0<strong>Jesper H. B. Christensen<\/strong>\u00a0(Aarhus-Central Denmark, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2017), expert in food and gastronomy business development;\u00a0<strong>Heidi Lazani<\/strong>\u00a0(South Aegean, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2019), expert in communications and community integration; and\u00a0<strong>Ilona Sares<\/strong>\u00a0(Kuopio, European Region of Gastronomy awarded 2020), expert in agrifood business development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The jury decision was based on an accurate review of Trondheim-Tr\u00f8ndelag\u2019s\u00a0<strong>bid book<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Trondelag_bidbook-2022.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Thriving Together Towards New Horizons<\/em><\/a>, that was <a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/trondheim-trondelag-presents-bid-to-be-european-region-of-gastronomy-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">publicly presented in Brussels<\/a> on 9 October 2019, and an intensive\u00a0<strong>field visit<\/strong>\u00a0to the region (12-14 November 2019), where the experts had the opportunity to meet local stakeholder organisations working in agriculture, fishing, tourism, culture and education, as well as stakeholders from public, private, third sector and education institutions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In general,\u00a0the jury\u00a0was impressed with the\u00a0<strong>gastronomic strengths<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0Trondheim-Tr\u00f8ndelag\u00a0and\u00a0its\u00a0dedication to\u00a0<strong>sustainability<\/strong>, and\u00a0recognised\u00a0the work already undertaken\u00a0by the\u00a0region in this regard.\u00a0They congratulated the region for its strong commitment to the\u00a0<strong>Food Manifesto<\/strong>\u00a0and its flagship initiatives such as the\u00a0<strong>Tr\u00f8ndelag<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Food Festival<\/strong>, which is\u00a0already\u00a0contributing to\u00a0build\u00a0a sustainable economy\u00a0by\u00a0connecting urban and rural products, enterprises and consumers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Furthermore, the jury emphasised that\u00a0Trondheim-Tr\u00f8ndelag\u2019s bid:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">clearly integrates the different focus areas of the European Region of Gastronomy very well;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">presents a long-term strategy and therefore is more likely to provide a lasting legacy for the region;<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shows a strong commitment from the partners to the programme.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the same time, the international experts acknowledged\u00a0the\u00a0ethos and high quality of food production in\u00a0Trondheim-Tr\u00f8ndelag\u00a0region, as well as the\u00a0pride and passion that\u00a0local stakeholders\u00a0show in their appreciation of the land and the waters, the green and blue economy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The jury evaluation concluded that, if used appropriately, the title will help the Trondheim-Tr\u00f8ndelag region in its quest to become world renowned as the <strong>Home of Nordic Flavours<\/strong>\u00a0and elevate the status of the region in terms of gastronomy, sustainable tourism, food education and quality food supply.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Subject to the jury recommendation being agreed by\u00a0<strong>IGCAT Board<\/strong>,\u00a0Trondheim-Tr\u00f8ndelag will be officially awarded European Region of Gastronomy 2022 at the\u00a0<strong>European Committee of the Regions<\/strong>\u00a0premises in Brussels, in February 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About the European Region of Gastronomy\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanregionofgastronomy.org\/platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Candidate and awarded Regions of Gastronomy<\/a>\u00a0from Europe, guided by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">IGCAT<\/a>, are working together to raise awareness about the importance of their cultural and food uniqueness; stimulate creativity and gastronomic innovation; educate for better nutrition; improve sustainable tourism standards; highlight distinctive food cultures; and strengthen community well-being.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About IGCAT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>IGCAT<\/strong>\u00a0aims to<strong>\u00a0empower local communities<\/strong>\u00a0by raising awareness of the importance to safeguard and promote distinct food, culture, arts and sustainable tourism assets.
