On 14 December 2020, the UN&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oneplanetnetwork.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">One Planet Network<\/a>\u00a0highlighted the challenges in an initial conversation with industry leaders on how to create a global roadmap on food waste in the tourism sector. The objective was to gather recommendations and ensure good coordination with work that sector stakeholders are already undertaking on the topic of food waste and more broadly <strong>sustainable food value chains<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/team\/barbara-zmrzlikar-slovenia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Barbara Zmrzlikar<\/a>, IGCAT expert from the <strong>Slovenian Tourism Board<\/strong> took part in the meeting. Slovenia is currently implementing food waste initiatives in their <strong>Green Plan for Slovenian tourism<\/strong> and will highlight this work during their celebratory year as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeanregionofgastronomy.org\/platform\/slovenia-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">European Region of Gastronomy in 2021<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/test-oldwebsite.igcat.org\/team\/dr-diane-dodd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Diane Dodd<\/a>, IGCAT President also took part in the meeting and highlighted the need to raise\u00a0<strong>awareness<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>build<\/strong><strong>\u00a0capacity <\/strong>in order to tackle the\u00a0food waste\u00a0issue.
